You see, the prevalent belief system advocates for a positive mindset, an enthusiastic mood, and a constant state of inspiration as the pillars of a productive and fulfilling life. However, the latest psychological science gently nudges us towards a different narrative.

The Real Deal with Motivation and Action

Contrary to the popular belief that you need to feel good to get started, the reality is that you need to get started to give yourself a chance at feeling good.

Let’s debunk a myth: controlling your thoughts and feelings is not within your realm of control. Go ahead, try not to think of a pink bear for the next thirty seconds and witness the futility of the exercise. The true power lies in how you respond to your thoughts and feelings, essentially, your actions. 

The mantra here is “mood follows action.”
